How Cooking Gas helped 3 Families in Ukunda, Mombasa

Throughout the peak of Covid-19, like many, three families in Ukunda, Mombasa lost their jobs in the hospitality industry leaving them with nowhere to turn to support their families.

Grace, a single mother of an 11 year old, Musa, a proud father of a 2-year-old son

and Joseph, one of 7 siblings, were in need of employment to support their loved ones.

Through Dr. Shehla Ebrahim’s mentorship and funding from Pennies for the Poor, Grace, Musa and Joseph, were able to open a Cooking Gas supply business in Ukunda, Mombasa which allowed them to feed their families, send their children to school, provide clean drinking water, and access medical care for their families.

With the financial support that they received from Pennies for the Poor, their Cooking Gas Supply business expanded rapidly as word of mouth picked up, and neighbouring villages heard about their services.

The latest? With your support, we were able to send funds to make transportation between villages more feasible, by funding a scooter for their Cooking Gas deliveries.
